Rafaelhoteles Atocha, located near Madrid's transport hubs of Álvaro Mendez and Atocha, offers easy access to the AVE high-speed lines. This contemporary hotel showcases impressive artwork, setting the tone for nearby gallery visits to Reina Sofia, Prado, and Thyssen-Bornemisza. Guests can unwind in the tranquil terrace garden or lounge, perfect for socializing before exploring Madrid's nightlife.

The hotel’s location was good.

The hotel charges extra through a POS terminal using Dynamic Currency Conversion, so we ended up paying 55 euros more than the listed rate without any notice, and the staff never replied to my email. They also expect guests to use a tips box, but didn’t give any minimum suggestion. I consider the DCC a robbery for a 4‑star hotel and would not recommend it.

The place is very beautiful and the rooms are lovely.

The front‑desk guy was friendly and attentive, and we could leave our bags while exploring the city; the breakfast buffet was decent, and the hotel’s reception looked modern, but the rooms were old with cheap IKEA décor, so it could lose a star or two. The room‑service staff were a bit rude, and the bathrooms were outdated with a high bathtub that could cause a fall, a loose shower, and everything felt old. The rooms were too large, the bed was small, and the mattress was longer than the bed frame. We paid for a 12‑year‑old child as an adult and were given an open sofa bed that made me sleep badly because the child claimed it wasn’t for her; it was very uncomfortable. We asked for a change but were told that was the only option. The breakfast buffet was okay, but at 285 € for one night for three people with breakfast included, it was overpriced. The hotel is near Atocha but still far from the metro, so don’t expect easy access.
