After a 79 km bike ride along the Jade‑Ems Canal, the location of Heerens Hotel was decisive for us. The bikes could be parked safely in the underground parking, and the breakfast buffet was very extensive. The aging hotel is run as a satellite of the Upstalsboom Parkhotel two houses over. There the reception (which gave us an unprofessional, sparse welcome), the underground parking, and the large breakfast room are located. Probably because of the large number of rooms, the cafeteria character is guaranteed. During our breakfast there was also a senior travel group present, which caused noise and unrest. There is no elevator in Hotel Heerens itself; on the ground floor the restaurant and bar are closed. Because of the location on the side street with cobblestones, for us with a room on the street we had a short night inclusive.

A large single bed with a comfortable mattress, a fridge, a kettle. Good value for money. Quiet. It was a bit dark because there is only one window (attic).

Overall everything was super pleasant, a well‑maintained hotel, a clean room, even bowls for the dog 🙂, a parking space in front of the door, a bakery/restaurant right next door, easily reachable, city centre within walking distance… absolutely recommendable.
