The staff were friendly, but I’m writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent stay at Mère Sea View Penida from 14 May to 16 May. From the moment we arrived, the room assigned to us was in an unacceptable state of filth, infested with creatures including a lizard that we found inside, and likely bed bugs. We also discovered several dead spiders near the bed. The bathroom was in a deplorable condition: walls covered in mildew, making its use particularly unpleasant and even unsanitary. Moreover, we had no hot water, nor any water at all during the night, which is a serious breach of the basic services we were entitled to. These accommodation conditions are not only unbecoming of a hotel, they violate the cleanliness, hygiene, and safety obligations that fall to you.

Despite an initial hiccup in communication (email via Booking), the staff were very friendly and helpful. In the bathroom, there is an extra floor covering that holds water and does not drain, creating a potential for bacterial growth. I didn’t use the shower for standing showers (I showered in the tub) because water sprayed everywhere, even around the toilet. The reception and restaurant are only covered (protection from rain and strong sun) and lack air conditioning, so it was very hot. The day before arrival, I couldn’t establish any telephone contact, not even via WhatsApp, nor via email through Booking, because they don’t list a phone number or direct email address. The email I sent via Booking about arranging transport was not received in time, and they didn’t inform me promptly, so I had to arrange transport from the port to the accommodation myself.
