The stay was okay, but the gardens were poorly maintained.
We loved our stay at the Cabañas! The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The setting was quiet, with only nature noises at night. We also enjoyed the garden, full of beautiful flowers and trees where we could watch hummingbirds and butterflies. Lunch was excellent and complete. The staff were lovely, always ready to help us arrange activities. We also used the laundry service. I highly recommend it!
“Comfortable stay with free upgrade of the room”
Tatiana spoke English—the only staff member who communicated well in English—and she was very nice and accommodating. They let me check in early and gave me a spacious room with 3 beds and a private bathroom. The room offered a lovely view of the greenery and I liked being downstairs. The property has hummingbird feeders, so there’s a lot of activity all day, and I also saw tanagers. They packed my breakfast in the containers I brought, so I could eat it later, which was very helpful since I was out birdwatching early in the morning. I could also store my food in their fridge and use the microwave in the staff’s kitchen to make tea. Tiny orchids are scattered around the rooms and the property. They’re very different from the large, showy orchids I’m used to seeing in Florida, but they were lovely to discover. The biggest problem was the noise on Saturday night. Guests upstairs kept going up and down the stairs, opening and closing doors, turning lights on, talking loudly, and showering well past midnight—until around 2 AM. Since many guests leave early for birdwatching, I think the property should enforce quiet hours after 11 PM. Most of the staff do not speak English, which made communication challenging and sometimes caused misunderstandings. The property is also a bit of a walk from the bus station. The women’s bathroom near the breakfast area didn’t look particularly nice, although fortunately my room was nearby and had its own bathroom. I stayed two days at Armonia and then later two days at Yellow House. If the prices were similar, I would much rather stay at Yellow House because of its convenient location near the bus station, private kitchen, hammock to relax, nicer breakfast area, and access to its large, beautiful property with trails.
