Penzion U Jelena

“Keine gute Bewertung”

The location of the pension was good. No staff spoke even a word of German, and during the stay the room was not cleaned, the trash bin was not emptied, and there was no breakfast on the first day—only a note in the kitchen. Breakfast was served at a nearby hotel. There was no contact person all day, no promised pool, and no sauna; the pictures on the platform do not match the current appearance of the pension, which is very run‑down and unkempt. This pension is not recommended.

“Za šumavskými jezery a vrcholy”

The pension’s location is great in the centre of Železná Ruda. The restaurant staff is excellent, the lady is amazing. The breakfasts are decent, with plenty of options. The shower’s waste drain annoyed us, but they are trying to fix it.

Staying at Penzionu u Jelena was a huge disappointment for me. We only booked one night, yet several serious shortcomings emerged immediately. The photos on Booking show a covered pool as part of the pension, but there is actually no pool at all, which is clearly misleading for guests. Another unpleasant discovery concerned security: we were given a single key that opened both the entrance to the pension and our room, meaning anyone with access to the pension could potentially enter your room, which definitely does not inspire a sense of safety. The pinnacle of the negative experience was the breakfast. The dark, presumably rye bread was obviously stale and smelled bad, so it was definitely not fresh. The worst part was the smoked cheese, which was moldy – this is not just a quality issue but a serious hygiene and safety concern. Avoid this place at all costs! I definitely do not recommend staying here.
