Grand Hotel Hønefoss, a historic inn since 1809, is situated near River Begna in Hønefoss's heart, 500 metres from Hønefoss Station. The hotel features individually furnished guest rooms with traditional décor, free WiFi, and some with seating areas or work desks. Ringerikes Museum is a 10-minute drive away, and packed lunches are available for order.

The hotel sits right in the center of town, and my room was quiet. The breakfast, however, had declined compared to before.

The staff were friendly and there was no problem checking in early; the bed was fine. The whole building smelled odd, probably mold or rot – the bathroom was awful. The hotel shows signs of many years of wear; paint flakes off and the TV didn’t work. We think we got the best room, so we didn’t complain, but if you’re looking for a higher standard, pick somewhere else. After a damp night in the city where you’re just looking for a place to sleep, it’s fine.
