“Le seul ratage de notre road trip de 15 jours en Tunisie.”
The property is brand‑new, clean, and tidy with a large, well‑equipped room, quiet air conditioning, a nice bathroom, and a good breakfast. The website sets expectations that were not met at all. We didn’t “experience” Dar Colibri and stayed only one night of the three booked. The Dar is 3 km from town, on a huge empty plot surrounded by construction sites and a pile of trash nearby. There’s no sea view, even from the roof terrace, which is surrounded by wind, likely to hide the unappealing surroundings. The building feels cold, too new, lacking “history” and charm compared to the eight other Dars we stayed in previously (Tunis, Sidi Bou Said, Le Kef, Gafsa, Tozeur, Tamezret, Mahdia, Sousse). There’s no inner patio, only a small outdoor courtyard, a less inviting lounge accessed through the kitchen, and a very limited outdoor space. No garden, just a small pool and only two beach mats on the floor with no room for more. It’s very/too expensive given the location and lack of outdoor areas/jardins. Dinner is also very pricey for a basic menu. A 50 % deposit was paid at booking, the balance was demanded upon arrival before we could unpack, and no gesture was offered at departure. Knowing we stayed only one night but paid for three, we expected a gesture at checkout, yet we had to pay for dinner and drinks. The establishment told Booking that we did not show up, which was false because we stayed one night. We asked the establishment to send us an invoice, which we still await despite our follow‑up.
