“A comfortable friendly 2-night stay”
The staff are friendly, the hotel is dog‑friendly, and the food is good. The room is very attractive, but there’s nowhere to store things in the bedroom or bathroom.
“Une bonne option dans le Devon, mais quelques points seraient à améliorer”
The location is very pleasant in a charming Devon village, the staff are kind, the room is quiet, and the pub is lovely. The village is tiny with only two dining options; we arrived late and the kitchen was already closed. We ordered a meal for delivery and settled in the pub thanks to the understanding staff, but you should know ahead of time that dining options are very limited. Two negatives: the walk‑in shower has no door or curtain, so water splashes everywhere in the bathroom; the continental breakfast tray was offered because of staff shortages, and we were told we could have it delivered to the room for £6 per person. It arrived the night before at 10pm, well stocked but with fresh items (cheese, milk, yoghurt) that spoil quickly without refrigeration, even with the supplied ice bucket.
“The room was lovely and a good shower/wet room ensuite”
The only thing was that there was no breakfast on Sunday morning, bit of a let down, apparently there was a continental breakfast tray option but no one mentioned it was available. The refreshment tray was sparse, we had to ask for extra milk and there wasn't any biscuits
The room maintained a nice temperature and the bed was comfortable. The location was excellent and the staff were lovely. The TV remote and towel rail in the bathroom didn’t work.
“Overall our stay was good.”
The location was perfect for our visit, and the staff—especially those at the bar—were very good. The room had been renovated, so I had no complaints and was happy. We booked our room without breakfast included, and later discovered that a continental breakfast was available for an extra cost. We tried it once (you had to notify the staff the day before and give a time), and it was okay. It’s annoying to have to plan breakfast timing when you’re on holiday, and for the rest of our stay we didn’t have breakfast.
