The room was clean and pleasant, check‑in was friendly, the facility was quiet, the bed comfortable, and the location was convenient as a midway point on our trip; the bathroom and shower were very clean, the microwave and fridge were spotless, no bugs appeared, and the room had a clean scent. However, steep steps led to the room, there was no breakfast or even coffee, the coffee in the room was undrinkable, a strong curry smell in the lobby at check‑in was nauseating, and there was no grab‑bar in the shower or tub.

In a small town with few motel options, this place was more than adequate and met all my needs for the trip; I’d stay again if I visited Albany, Texas.

This independently‑owned, revitalized motel on the edge of Albany, the Shakelford County Seat, was exactly what I wanted on a solo drive through Central and North Texas, offering a unique character that stands out among chain hotels. The owner was a delight to talk to, very responsive and informative about the town’s history, museums, art exhibits, and the rapid industrial development around the area. The room was modest but had everything I needed and was very clean, giving me a quiet, restful night before I hit the road early the next morning. The little town of Albany is worth exploring – the beautiful county courthouse is a highlight.

The staff was friendly and even reminded us to get mosquito spray for the outdoor play we were watching that evening; the room was clean, the towels were soft and white, and the bed was comfortable. The only downside was that there was no hair dryer in the room.
