The owner welcomed us, was very friendly and told us the house’s history. The next day he helped us find a taxi to the station, which saved us. He is very attentive. The setting is beautiful and traditional. The room has air‑conditioning or heated floor. It felt like a Korean experience! Futon on the floor, room with paper walls and doors, birds sound in the morning, shared bathroom with a shower at the sink level. The décor is exceptional; you feel the weight of history.

This is a beautiful historic house that has been owned by the same family for eight generations. We really liked the architecture and garden. The highlight was the friendly host who explained the building’s history, his family, and many other cultural details. You will be sleeping on authentic futons in a protected house, so naturally, it won’t have the comfort or amenities of a hotel.

A gorgeous hanok that’s hundreds of years old. Sleeping on a futon and waking up to singing birds is a treat. The owner (we slept in his birthroom) was friendly and helpful. That said, the comfort level was what you’d expect from a hanok.

We felt like we’d stepped back into the Joseon era for our single night—traditional Hanok, stunning! We slept on futons in a room with dolls, and it truly felt like living in the past. The hanok sits outside Andong, closer to the hanoe village, and we drove our rental car to get there. The place is ancient and beautiful, with a meticulously tended lawn at the entrance. The owner welcomed us, proudly shared his family’s history, and was incredibly kind and helpful. The room was awesome; admittedly rustic with an exterior bathroom, but that’s typical of a traditional setup. He woke us with a rooster’s crow, and the surrounding peace brought a sense of serenity. A wonderful experience.
