“We will be back”
Alex’s Olitas house is the best; we spent 10 amazing days at his modern, silent, and just perfect house for a surf trip. The staff was always present and very helpful, and we will definitely return. Nothing else to complain about.

We loved everything. Honestly there was nothing we didn’t love. The house was spacious, had a beautiful interior design, super nice staff, and communication was great. Nothing to add.

Before we arrived we ran into several issues with our booking. We had specifically chosen the Queen Room because we needed a proper indoor space to work remotely. The property later informed us that the Queen Room was unavailable and that we would be moved to a double room that didn’t have suitable indoor working space because another guest was occupying the Queen Room. As a workaround, the host offered to set up a table on the outdoor terrace, which was not a realistic substitute for an indoor workspace given the heat and humidity in Nias in August. After several discussions we were eventually allowed to keep the Queen Room. However, we were not given access to the advertised shared indoor areas, including the shared kitchen, because we were told that another guest had exclusive use of them. The property gave us a motorbike free of charge during our stay, which we appreciated, but this was not an equivalent replacement for the kitchen and indoor common areas that were part of the accommodation we had booked and needed for remote work. The main problem was not the room itself, but the lack of transparency and the difference between the facilities advertised and those actually made available to us.

The accommodation is cozy, well‑thought‑out, and designed, and it’s very close to the peak for catching waves. The room we booked was spacious, with plenty of light, jungle views, and an ideal terrace with a hammock, rack for boards, and a parasol. Having stayed 14 nights in Lagundri, I would stay here again because it’s by far the best lodging in town! I loved it. Although Alex (the owner) is charming, the additional services and the staff handling the hosting are quite neglected and unhelpful. It would be a shame if the lodging deteriorated soon because of this, as it’s a fantastic little house. Room cleaning is not included. Compared to other Indonesian accommodations, we didn’t like that housekeeping isn’t included and is charged separately, but that’s a local management issue; the lodging is wonderful.
