“Great value for money”
Lovely welcome and very helpful staff. The rooms are well sized with good quality bed linen, and the bathroom is very good.

Excellent location near the station and town centre; the staff worked hard to make the stay enjoyable and the dinner was excellent—goat curry was a highlight. The building’s exterior and the interior of the upper floors look somewhat dilapidated, there was no staff in the building at night (I think), and the room was very small.

A cozy room welcomed me, and the staff were friendly. Parking was free, and the evening curry was tasty. The hotel displayed a lot of information about Thomas Paine’s life, including a video.

The location was good for my purpose; the Thetford parkrun and central to other locations around Norfolk etc. Check-in was poor with the staff member unable to find my 4 night booking that had been arranged in June 2026. The first 3 nights were comfortable. Breakfast is not offered and the restaurant remained in an unused and not open for business state (Tuesday to Friday). Each morning, you came down to a dark back reception area with automatic lighting. There was no impression given that there was a member of staff available or present in the hotel overnight. My last evening was ruined by an event downstairs in the bar and restaurant area. It had been advertised on a social media flyer as a curry night meal. An extremely loud disco totally disturbed my sleep. Although I had been invited by the owner to attend the event, I chose not to. When I booked my accommodation in June, I was not made aware that an event was planned that could severely disturb my evening. Had I been made aware of this at the time, I could have reconsidered my accommodation plans. I emailed the owner and requested him to consider my situation, as a paying guest and to make some recompense for the disturbance. Unfortunately, he refused

The hotel was very disappointing. Stephen checked us into room 5, which had little to like beyond the decor. We stayed in a well‑appointed, large room on the main road. The crossing made a pinging noise from early morning—initially I thought it was a car alarm—and I barely slept. There was no food at all. I had to carry items around to the side door because the front door was locked. At night we sat outside with others, huddling around a single table and on the ground. England played football, everyone dispersed to watch the match, then to shops for drinks—a missed opportunity.
