Located on Watamu beach, the luxury Medina Palms features unique architecture and a tropical garden, outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers and views of the Indian Ocean. Free WiFi is offered in public areas. With views of the garden and pool, the elegant and spacious suites come complete with air conditioning and feature a lounge and dining area, flat-screen satellite TV and kitchenette. Each have a private entrance and some suites offer a hot tub. At Medina Palms there is the à la carte Amandina Restaurant, Star Lounge which offers shisha, cocktails and sunsets views towards the distant Tsavo National Park. Other facilities at the resort include a kids' club, fitness centre and the Sakina Spa which offers an array of treatments and massages. The resort is 25 km from the Malindi Airport and 126 km from the Moi International Airport.

The design of Medina Palms is stunning, with three central pools that slope toward the sea, framed by classic North African arches. My two‑bedroom apartment was clean, spacious, modern, and beautifully decorated. I didn’t find anything to dislike; the design and facilities were flawless.

The private beach, the helpful staff, and the pool were all great, but the room faced the neighboring hotel, whose generator and parties were loud and ran late into the night.

The vibe feels like a lush garden just a few steps from the beach, which I really liked, but the restaurant and breakfast didn't offer many vegetarian choices.

The place is truly beautiful and well maintained; our suite was exceptionally large, very comfortable, and spotless. We especially enjoyed the pool area and the extensive breakfast with options like an egg station, various cakes, porridge, and plenty of fresh fruit. The staff at the hotel and front desk were very friendly and helpful, and arranging our spa session and whale‑watching excursion was completely hassle‑free. However, the breakfast service inside the hotel was slightly less friendly than elsewhere, though on the terrace it was flawless. The Wi‑Fi was unreliable, even in our suite where some spots had weak or no signal. The tuk‑tuk drivers outside the hotel were somewhat pushy, and during our stay there was a lot of seaweed on the beach, making swimming almost impossible—though that was seasonal and not the hotel's fault.
