“You can see the original ambition, but the property needs serious upkeep”

From the moment I walked in, it was clear that a lot of money and effort had gone into the hotel, with large, spacious rooms and design touches that hinted at its original ambition. Yet maintenance has slipped, so the place no longer matches the pictures and some amenities, like the room jacuzzis, were broken during my stay. The view is also not what the online marketing suggests. I do recognize that Pahalgam and Kashmir have faced tough times lately, so keeping a large property up to snuff can be hard. The real highlight was the housekeeping and room‑service team, especially the women who were warm, hardworking, and genuinely pleasant to talk to. Seeing women in visible hospitality roles felt empowering in a region where that still matters. Breakfast was a let‑down and not worth the hype; that’s the one area the hotel needs to fix. The rooms themselves are comfortable because of their size and layout, but at the current price point the hotel doesn’t feel worth it. With better upkeep and more focus on operational quality, it could return to being an excellent property.
