It was truly a unique place, feeling like you were living right in the jungle. Aside from the mosquito net, everything was open. We only had fireflies as uninvited guests, and no one else came that we’d wanted to see. We did spot a huge sloth hanging in a tree on the way to the next restaurant, Cofe Stopp. Walking there takes 40 minutes, but the path is worth it—the food is excellent and the view is spectacular. Even the sweet hummingbirds that are fed here were worth the trek. The cocoa plantation nearby was also impressive. Our host gave us a brief look at cocoa production next to the restaurant, and we got to taste chocolate. The cheapest way back to Almirante is by bus, which runs every hour, and the hosts helped us with that.
