“Monte Fuji Hostel”
Close to Mount Fuji. The accommodation was lacking.

I arrived to find a house with a code lock and no front desk; it was dirty and almost furniture‑less. The bathroom—both toilet and shower—was shared with other housemates, and when we got there we ran into another guy who thought he was alone and was about to shower. The room itself wasn’t very clean; it was the dirtiest place we’d seen in Japan. Communication was only in Japanese, so we mistakenly thought the room had a private bath and the host took a long time to reply and offered no fix, so we lost all our reservation money. The spot is awful, far from anything, and the parking directions are confusing with no one to ask. I would never book here again or recommend it to anyone.

Good location, parking and a supermarket right outside, and the manager replied quickly to messages. What wasn’t mentioned in the booking was that showers and toilets were shared with four other rooms, which made paying a lot of money and waiting in line for a shower uncomfortable.
We couldn’t check in because the access code never arrived, forcing us to book another hotel that night. It looked clean and comfortable, but there was no customer service; we waited from 3 pm and only got a response after 9 pm.
