Very little. I was genuinely unhappy with the quality of our stay. On arrival we couldn’t access our room because the key was missing from the lock box. There was no internet, no tea towel to dry dishes, no hand wash, no body wash, and the kitchen was sparsely equipped—no cutting knives, no cutting boards. Though an iron and ironing facilities were advertised, they were absent.

I liked the location, the fridge, toaster, microwave, and the proximity to shops and woods. The two tall trees were beautiful. The bed felt like a waterbed and was soft; I slept well and could open the window. The sofa, garden, friendly phone greeting, and privacy made Peace House peaceful. I had to Google the phone number. I didn’t like the all‑black décor: black sofa, wardrobe, kitchenette, bin, and a sink that didn’t work. The electric top looked like a fryer but I couldn’t get it to work, so I used the microwave. The bedding color was off; I wasn’t sure if towels were free, so I used my own. I didn’t need a TV but wasted time trying to get it, eventually giving up. It’s okay though.

I could reach the host by phone and he was willing to sort out any issues. The inventory list was on display, yet items like a hairdryer and Wi‑Fi were missing, and the TV wasn’t plugged in. The seating area had been piled with laundry for five days, so nobody could sit there. I had requested breakfast to be included, but it wasn’t offered; there was a kitchenette but the tap was almost impossible to open. Only two towels were supplied for five days, but fortunately the laundry was hanging out, so we grabbed extra towels.

I liked the facilities a lot. I didn’t realize until I was heading to the train that a key code was required, which made me feel vulnerable as a lone woman. The internet was awful, and I finally got the TV working after the owner never replied.
