We stayed three nights at the Hilton Garden Inn Paris La Villette and were very disappointed; on arrival we noticed an unpleasant odor in our room and obvious lack of cleanliness and maintenance in the bathroom, with shower rail deposits, dirty grout, and stains on fixtures—photos confirm this. After reporting the issues to reception, we were offered a room change without anyone inspecting the first room. In the new room the odor had gone, but similar cleanliness problems persisted. A staff member who came to do a deep clean admitted the validity of our complaints. Beyond the rooms, we were especially disappointed by how our complaint was handled; we felt like a nuisance instead of being listened to, and the reception’s organizational constraints were repeatedly cited when we simply wanted a properly maintained room. We sent a detailed email to management with photos of both rooms, but received no response; the only gesture was four sweets left for us. While the staff who cleaned was understanding, we were shocked by the state of two successive rooms and the handling of our complaint at a Hilton 4‑star property.
