“Cannot recommend this place - try Coconuts or Sinalei instead”
This property has direct access (along with the next‑door Coconuts and Sinalei resorts) to the most beautiful beach – it’s like a postcard – the water is crystal clear, palm trees, fairy lights, free kayaks, which we took out and saw sea turtles! The next‑door resorts have wonderful restaurants with great views, the in‑house restaurant at this property is okay for breakfast/lunch, and the coffee was better than expected. The photos of the room we booked and the reviews we read before booking did not do justice to how disgusting the room was when we arrived – it was dirty, cramped, the door didn’t fit the jamb so there was space for bugs to get in (which happened within seconds). The shower looked like a nightmare, was not clean, there was a cockroach in the toilet, and the fridge had mould inside. We were shocked at how much this room had cost. We could not stay in the room and felt like it was a trick to force guests to pay to upgrade to a habitable room. We forked over lots more money (slightly more than double) in the end because we had no choice, and the new room was clean, large, bright, and had good wifi (none of which described the first room). The staff did not even offer us any compensation, free upgrade, discount on food, or apology. This review is not for the room we ended up staying in, but for the room we booked. It felt like a bait and switch.
