The owner is friendly and responsive. The shower is extremely tiny, we couldn’t find hot water, the Wi‑Fi doesn’t work, there are footprints and handprints on the walls, it’s noisy in the morning with workers around, and all the light leaks into the room.

The setting is gorgeous, right by the sea and a short walk to the fabulous beach. The Sri Lankan breakfasts were fantastic, and the staff were extremely helpful when we left our passports behind.

The room needed a facelift and there were a few bugs in the bathroom, but the staff were friendly, the service was personal, and the location was great.

We stayed for three nights and the host was super welcoming, arranging scooter hire in just fifteen minutes and handling laundry swiftly; breakfast varied daily with tasty local dishes and fresh fruit juices that hit the spot after surfing, and we sampled different Sri Lankan flavors each morning; the spot was a calm escape from the crowds yet still reachable by scooter, with Hiriketiya Beach offering mellow waves, a sandy bottom, and a confidence‑building experience for beginners, making the three‑night stay perfect—longer might feel a bit dull; the only drawback was the crowds at the surf spot, which is normal; overall a solid recommendation for beginner surfers craving a relaxed, friendly vibe; just remember to use mosquito repellent after dark and keep doors and windows shut—one night we left them open and the mosquitoes invaded.
