I want to share my review of Joy Island hotel. We stayed for two weeks from 11.09 to 25.09. In short: we liked everything. The hotel chain is run by an Italian family, so everything related to food is simply magical. For lunch and dinner there are three types of sauce for the specifically paired pasta, always the freshest fish and meat. The variety of desserts and appetizers is also impressive in the restaurant. When you come to the restaurant, you are always greeted, offered a table, and drinks are ordered immediately. The staff in the restaurant are very pleasant, always take the plates on time, refill water, all very polite and very helpful. Also the personal Butler always sends you the schedule of events for the next day in the evening, among which there is an evening of Maldivian cuisine, a day of rolls, etc. Also very tasty and beautiful pizza in the Basilic restaurant. You can snack for free at 16:30 in the bar by the water villas. As for alcohol and drinks, there is a wide variety in both bars on the island. The cocktails are fairly strong, they don’t hold back on alcohol. In the minibar on the villa they always put 4 cans of beer, 2 colas and 2 of each type of Schweppes, juices and of course large bottles of water. I would like to highlight the very tasty water on the island, it’s not always the case. The island is quite green, there’s a beautiful pink coral reef, small sharks swim by and there are small rays at the pier. For snorkeling they provide free mask and fins, which is very convenient, you don’t have to bring them yourself. Also on the island there are many hermit crabs, crabs, lizards and birds, and at night bats fly. The beach is very beautiful, but occasionally large corals appear, so I would recommend bringing special slippers to walk comfortably on the bottom and sand. Despite the good cleaning in the room, the toilet smelled unpleasant, possibly there was some clog in the sewage, this should be fixed in room 159. We didn’t want to change rooms by our own choice, because we liked everything else in the room. Also a wish to add a drying function in laundry, in the rainy season and if it rains often, it’s very hard to dry clothes, they may not dry for up to 3 days because of humidity. Or this problem can be solved by hanging a towel dryer in the bathroom, if that is possible in the Maldives.
