The setting is beautiful and it’s nice to see and interact with the animals. The road is rough, the fridge didn’t work, towels were small and no soap was provided. Small maintenance issues were missing – the kitchen tap, for example. The cottage door was in a shocking state, with bits of wood put together and falling apart.

It’s a long drive from town, but the stargazing at night is absolutely stunning – truly breathtaking. The cottage setup is nice, though the roof needs spiderweb cleaning; otherwise it’s immaculate. I didn’t like that the electric blanket wasn’t included; it’s an extra charge, which feels like a complimentary service that should be built into the price according to current Airbnb standards.

The stay was awesome, with fresh mountain air, scenic walks up the mountain, and a peaceful, quiet vibe – a real treasure if you want a true escape from city life. The road isn’t built for a Sadan – only 4x4s, pickups, and off‑road vehicles can handle it. I also disliked being charged for a shuttle service for each trip to and from your own car, even though it was said a normal car could drive there. If that had been clear from the start, we’d have chosen a different vehicle that could handle the terrain.

The area was stunning and the horses were a joy to see, plus we liked the dogs visiting. We appreciated how remote the farm felt. The kitchen had plenty of supplies and the braai was spot‑on. We enjoyed sipping coffee on the verandah in the warm morning sun. The place has great potential; a few updates could modernise the cottage. The cottage itself was freezing and the bedrooms were far from the lounge where the fireplace is. An electric blanket or heater in the bedrooms would have made it more comfortable. The bathroom needed a modern touch and a shower. The cottage we had overlooked seemed cozier, but we were told not to stay there when we asked.

Short but amazing breakaway. Its secluded. Well equipped. They were very accommodating of our 3 dogs. The unit was safety secured and fenced. The hike we did was not difficult at all the views are amazing. Will definitely be back. Everything was aamazing. Nothing not to like
