The staff were very friendly. The room was nice and clean, but it lacked air conditioning. There were enough power sockets, also in the bathroom where they were a bit hidden under the mirror. The bathroom was big enough and supplied cosmetic towels. Breakfast was great! On Sunday there was fish and a variety of breads, including a braided loaf, plus assorted cold cuts, muesli, sweets, fruit, etc. The underground parking was perfect for our motorcycles. The hotel sits in the centre of Lyss, and walking takes about 15 minutes to the ice rink. On the way back there’s a good but pricey steakhouse that’s also worth a visit. The missing air conditioning in the room was a downside. The room keys are old‑fashioned and very large; when you go out at night you sometimes have to change the key on the corresponding board to get back into the hotel. Magnetic cards would be much more convenient. The coffee machine is very slow and takes forever to make a cup. Plus you actually have to pull out two coffees for the cup to be half full.

The reception was friendly, the room with balcony was comfortable, the private parking was free, the breakfast was hearty and high quality, and the location is near the Lyss train station, 16 min to Bern and 11 min to Biel by train.
