The place is right next to loads of food spots, especially durian stalls, and a Seven Eleven nearby makes it easy to grab water. Finding a Grab is a bit tricky; sometimes we’re dropped across the street from the hotel if we’re coming from the Grab side, but if we’re heading the same direction we can get right in front. Overall, we were happy with the stay. The receptionist was polite and helpful. I wanted to check out at dawn, but they processed me quickly and it didn’t take long.

The location is close to many restaurants, hotels along Jalan Macalister, hawker stalls in Lorong Baru, Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall, Pulau Pinang Museum, durian stalls, and Watsons. The nearest laundry is about a 10‑minute walk away (Polar Wash and Dry – 25 minutes RM9, 25 minutes dry RM9). The surroundings are great for food lovers who don’t want to travel far. If you don’t want to walk, you can try the free CAT bus – check the Rapid Penang App. I stayed 16–19 June for three nights. The first and third nights were badly disrupted by midnight road construction right outside the hotel. After the first incident I raised the issue, but the hotel only reacted by moving my family to other rooms in the middle of the night twice. Those rooms were offered for sleeping only, without moving our luggage, which was an extra hassle. We had an elderly family member (80+ years old) with a heart condition, so sudden sleep disruption and late‑night movement could have been dangerous. The whole experience caused a lot of stress, inconvenience, and unnecessary discomfort. I strongly suggest the hotel improve proactive room allocation, clearer communication about potential disturbances, and avoid making guests—especially vulnerable ones—move rooms overnight. While I appreciate the staff’s effort to provide backup rooms, the overall handling fell short of reasonable guest expectations. Because two out of three nights were affected, I would like the hotel to review the impact of this experience and consider what might be appropriate under the circumstances, and share this feedback for improvement. Thank you for your attention. Kind regards, Boon

The location was fine, but the supposedly “non‑smoking room” was filthy. On arrival, a heavy cigarette smell hung on everything: curtains, bedding, and the mattress—all smelled of cigarettes. After lying in the bed for a while, you could even feel nicotine on your arms and clothes. We reported this to staff, but they insisted no one had smoked in the room, despite obvious cigarette ash spots. Our complaint was not taken seriously and nothing was done to fix it. Because of the dirty room and the staff’s indifferent attitude, we left early. Absolutely not recommended.
