“Most disappointing of all would be the email I received after our stay, requesting that we give them a 10/10 score b”
The staff handled the challenges well and the facilities were clean, with beds that were fairly comfortable. However, the place was not ready for guests, especially considering the price. The open‑plan bedroom and bathroom lacked curtains on the glass doors, which revealed a communal sitting area in the garden. Balcony chairs were impractical, and one had a broken leg. The light fixture was missing parts and only one of five bulbs worked, so I had to set up shelves in the room fridge. There was no fan or air‑con, making the room stuffy on hot nights. Two of the door locks were poorly installed, making them hard to lock and unlock. Parking was cramped, and cars had to be shuffled to let people leave. Not all rooms had remotes, so some guests had to wait for others or staff to open and close doors. The communal kitchen and seating area looked well equipped until you tried to use it; the cupboards and drawers were cluttered with general operating supplies, and all cutlery was dumped into a single drawer, forcing you to dig through everything to find knives and forks. The garden entertainment area seemed welcoming, but we chose not to braai because the built‑in braai had no chimney to vent the smoke. The place should be advertised as having no TVs, as some might consider that standard. We almost changed accommodation, but decided to make the best of it after seeing two other disappointed travelers in a heated phone dispute with the absent owner; both parties behaved unprofessionally, leaving us feeling uncomfortable.
