“Only found out the hotel was closed when we arrived for our reservation…”

We can’t say anything positive because we never got to stay here; we booked the hotel, arrived to find it closed for maintenance, and only a single phone call—missed by us—was made to try to inform us beforehand; no other attempt was made, no email or voicemail, so we had no clue the location was closed and had to book another hotel at the last minute. I don’t understand how they let us book if they were already closed for maintenance.

The hotel is lovely, very clean, and the staff are helpful and friendly; the rooms are spacious, the power shower is great, toiletries are plentiful, a hot water machine is in each room, and there’s plenty of coffee and tea. Unfortunately, ongoing road works for a new train line mean there are no left turns around the hotel, so you have to walk a few blocks to get to the right side of the building; nothing the hotel can do about it. Once the works finish, I’ll definitely stay again, and the train line passing nearby will provide great access to all of Edinburgh.

Convenient, but the main door was locked and the front desk clerk wasn’t available to open it.

The ice machine worked fine, but the vending machine had no water.
