The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and when we arrived with our 1‑year‑old, the crib with a mosquito net was already set up; the hot‑water shower, on‑site dining and especially the chicken burrito were great, and the reserve’s birds—including wild species—were a treat, so bring binoculars—you can even spot a toucan from your room. I hope we can return.

The place sits in a prime spot overlooking the mountains and is tastefully furnished. I would highly recommend the room by the waterfall, which comes with an exceptional terrace surrounded by hummingbirds all day and an amazing view. Breakfasts are plentiful and excellent. The downside is that you have to rely on expensive transport to get to and from the village, and sometimes the staff can feel uncooperative, making you feel like a nuisance because you’re isolated. For transfers to and from Santa Marta, there are cheaper options than the standard one the hotel offers.

The property is gorgeous in the jungle, and the natural reserve shelters rescued animals. It’s very quiet and calm. The staff are very helpful and friendly, making it a great spot for families with kids.
