The hostel is very well located, easy to reach from the train station and close to the center and Assisi’s attractions. It’s spacious, bright, and the hostel owner is very friendly. The breakfast is good—coffee and eggs—but could be more complete with fruit and cereals.

The breakfast only had 4 slices of toast, coffee, milk, and jam—underwhelming. The location is great for those who enjoy tranquility, about 15 minutes from São Francisco’s basilica and 30 minutes from Nossa Senhora dos Anjos basilica on foot. The service was very cold; we arrived, got the room key, and no one said anything. There was a lack of hospitality.

Ruku is an outstanding and deeply caring host. The property is calm, peaceful, and strategically placed. It’s clean, welcoming, and bright. The downside is that it’s on a road with a lot of speeding cars, which is the opposite of what Saint Francis represents. That isn’t the hostel’s fault, but it affects the stay, especially for pilgrims walking up and down that road on their way to the property. The price is a bit steep for a dorm situation outside of Assisi.

A perfect 10 for the guy at reception because of his kindness and skill. He does everything and is there 24 hours a day. A wonderful person, super efficient, and I’ve never seen anyone work so well.
