Excellent value for money, a comfortable room with AC, good bed and showers, a relaxing balcony, and breakfast that lets you order omelets and fresh tapioca; nothing to complain about.

The breakfast was simple with few options. On our first day we missed breakfast because we went out for a walk and breakfast started at 7:30 am, which felt late for a tourist town. I’d suggest starting at 7 am. The next day we tried to eat around 7:45 am, but the breakfast wasn’t ready because the staff said she had arrived late. On our last day we were told the tapioca was sold out, showing a lack of food ordering. The room was comfortable, with a balcony and a hammock that made it special. However we noticed many stains on the bathroom mirror and the room wall, as shown in the photos. The worst incident happened one night after a walk: the water in the shower ran out. I was all soapy and had shampoo in my hair. I immediately texted the reception on WhatsApp about the water shortage, and the guy on duty said he’d check. After a while he said he didn’t know what was happening because he’d only worked there three days and hadn’t been taught how the plumbing worked. He also said he couldn’t reach the manager. My husband went to the reception to speak with the manager, but the guy couldn’t fix it. In the end, my husband returned to the room with a bucket of water so I could finish my shower. The whole thing took about an hour and a half. The problem was internal to the lodge, not a supply issue. Imagine spending that long without water to finish a shower and then having to shower with a bucket – it was at least frustrating. I had to split my review because it didn’t fit in one box. I don’t blame the staff who had only been there three nights, but the manager shouldn’t leave someone alone without full training, because many things can happen and the employee needs to know how to solve them. The whole experience was very frustrating. When we decided to go to Ilhéus, my husband and I were torn between this and another lodge, and we chose this one because of the great reviews. It turned out to be one of the most unpleasant lodge experiences we’ve had. We’ve stayed in lodges or hotels for a month before and never had a problem like this. Some things can be overlooked, but being without water and waiting over an hour to fix it and having to shower with a bucket was the worst. The next day the receptionist apologized and gave us a chocolate. While she apologized, she said it was good that it happened so they could prepare better. Hearing that upset me a lot, because it wasn’t a pleasant experience. I see potential in the lodge and hope they improve over time to avoid these issues.
