The pools were under renovation, the work was delayed, and there was no mention of this before booking. The construction delays were clearly caught up in the evenings, with drills still sounding after midnight.

It was great to see all the same staff again—like a family—and I’ll see everyone again in October. A note for future guests: tip the staff if you can; if you can afford the stay, you can afford to tip, and it really matters to them. The only downside is that this place makes you want to come back—it’s that good. The long journey to get here, 6 hours of time difference, is a bit of a drawback.

Breakfast was great, the view was amazing, and the staff were fantastic. I received an upgrade to a better room, which was super! The only downside was the construction at the pool, which caused a lot of noise.

Huge rooms all overlooking the sea in some way, a friendly and nice staff, a really big infinity pool, and a great beach. The breakfast, however, didn’t live up to what the hotel’s high level would suggest; it felt a bit distant and isolated, but that was actually what we were looking for, so just keep that in mind.

Mantra Samui looks stunning with beautiful rooms, excellent facilities, and a lovely vibe, but the service made us feel uneasy most of the time. We tried to stay polite, friendly, and smiling with everyone, and we genuinely wanted to enjoy the hotel and spend money there. We kept kosher and had specific requests—different pans or separate ingredients—and often felt those requests were a burden. The chef even came out and looked at us in a dismissive way just because we asked for something different. At reception, on the morning of checkout, we were called twice before 11:30 to remind us that checkout was at 12:00, and the tone made us feel rushed and somewhat disrespected. What hurt most was that we really wanted to enjoy everything the hotel had to offer, but polite, respectful guests shouldn’t be made to feel uncomfortable for reasonable questions or adjustments. Mantra Samui is a beautiful property, but a warmer, more welcoming, and genuinely service‑mindful hospitality would make a huge difference.
