“Not the best place to stay when in Nusa penida”
I liked the place itself. It is a beautiful place with a very nice view. I didn't like the staff. I don't think they are trained to welcome tourists. We had tge delux room, so the door of our room is a glass door with a sea view. We kept the curtains open. But if the staff want anything from you they just show up a front of the door. Zero privacy. I also asked for a taxi to a certain place. It is a total 5 hours driving tour. The staff asked 1.300 000, and I had to bargain a lot to get it for 800k. I found out later that tours cost no more than 600k. And we asked the driver he gets a fixed small amount of the money. So the staff made most of the profit. I didn't like it. Hotels are supposed to help costumers not to scam them. Breakfast is not that good. And coffee is not good at all. We couldn't drink it. Communication was very very challenging as nobody spoke OK English. Many misunderstandings. Most importantly, the swimming pool was always so dirty throughout our 5 days' stay. We thought we we wanted to chill in Nusa penida but we couldn't. In general, I wouldn't recommend this place unless they train their staff to know how to run such a place
“Ok is you want somewhere quiet and remote. Food is ok, limited choices and not near any local amenities so bring snacks.”
The rooms were quite nice and the bar offered a good view, and it was generally quiet. However, the pool photos were outdated; the pool is now in a different spot and a new building blocks the volcano and sea view, which was the main reason I booked here, so I was disappointed. The property feels very isolated and the roads are not suitable for driving. The food was poor and there was no clear way to order it, and it took over an hour to arrive once ordered. The rooms were okay but not finished to a good standard or cleaned properly. The prearranged taxi driver tried to charge me 50,000 rupiah more than the agreed amount. There were no cushions for the sun loungers, so they were uncomfortable. They also spent hours cleaning the pool on one of the days I was there, so it wasn’t very relaxing. This is not a 4‑star place.
This spot is beautiful, perched on a hill so you have to bike down but that’s fine—if a tsunami hits you’re safe! 😄 The staff are lovely and accommodating, the grounds are stunning and well kept, and the pool is lovely after a day of riding around and checking out sites. It’s our own little paradise (this place is totally underrated). Thank you for a lovely stay, and if I come back to Nusa Penida I’ll definitely return here!
The staff were really kind, but getting down the hill on a scooter proved difficult.
Breakfast was good, and everything else was great.
