The Hotel Helgoland, located in Hamburg's Stellingen district, offers 3-star accommodations with cosy, bright rooms and en suite facilities. Guests enjoy free WiFi, a hearty breakfast, and evening dining at the attached Das Bistro restaurant. With easy access to public transport, the hotel is 20-25 minutes from the city centre, Landungsbrücken, and CCH congress centre, and just 2 minutes from the A7 motorway.

The breakfast was good, but the hotel feels a bit dated, still very 80s‑style… almost retro chic. The room décor and bathroom were old but clean. The room smelled of cigarettes, the single bed was narrow, short, creaking, and had a too-thin blanket, so I froze at night. The main street outside was very loud, the window didn’t seal properly, making it noisy at night. The check‑in took a long time even though only two people were ahead of me. The nearest U‑/S‑bahn is quite far; you need to transfer to reach the city. At 65 € including breakfast it would be acceptable, but 130 € is far too expensive.

The hotel is a few years old and that shows in some areas, especially the furniture, but I see it more as a charming patina than a flaw. The bathroom was new and had everything needed. The room was freshly painted, fully equipped, and all parts worked; everything was impeccably clean. Breakfast was extensive, plentiful, and offered from 6 am to 11 am for every guest, with fresh menus at later times. I especially want to highlight that the staff were friendly, courteous, and unobtrusive, fulfilling every request. The location on a main street is good, and the double windows blocked all noise. There are plenty of parking spaces, plus a paid underground garage. I spent four days there and can recommend the hotel with confidence. It would be great if the on‑site bar were also operated so guests could unwind after a tiring day in Hamburg. It’s also a pity that there are no more sockets in the rooms, since nowadays we bring many devices that need charging; in my room there were two plus one in the bathroom.

Hotel ist deutlich in die Jahre gekommen, von den Badfliesen bekommt man Albträume. Es riecht komisch. Wir hatten ein eher kleines Zimmer mit getrennten! Betten und leider zur Straße, da wir das Fenster angekippt hatten, war ab 5.00 Uhr an Schlaf nicht mehr zu denken. Aus Gründen der Nachhaltigkeit sollte über die den Tausch der kleinen Duschgelfläschen gegen nachfüllbare Spender nachgedacht werden
