Maya Hotel & Restaurant

I booked Maya just so I could hit the Taj Mahal at 5am, and it turned out to be even closer than I thought. The room was spotless, the meals were tasty, and everyone—from the staff to the owner—was super friendly. I liked the electric mosquito repellent and the fact that the water for cooking and drinks was filtered. The AC looked a bit dated, so I mostly used the ceiling fan, which worked fine. There was a strange smell here and there, but I didn’t dig into it since I was only staying one night, and overall the price and all the positives made me happy with my choice, so I’d recommend Maya Hotel.

We had a very pleasant stay at Maya Hotel. The location is excellent, very close to the Taj Mahal entrance, which made our visit especially convenient. We also really enjoyed the food. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the restaurant service was warm and attentive. A special thank you to Mohit Kumar, who looked after us very well at breakfast, and equally to the gentleman who served us at dinner — unfortunately I didn’t catch his name, but his service was just as appreciated. The hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from the Taj Mahal, so the access is great. The on‑site restaurant offers discounted meals for guests, which is a good deal, and the food is tasty. The bedding and pillows around the bed didn’t feel clean, though.

“A côté Taj”

The hotel sits 200 m from the western entrance of the Taj Mahal. The room is clean and spacious. The restaurant is a bit pricey. The Wi‑Fi isn’t great. Tour operators can feel a bit intrusive in the building.

The reception staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. The terrace on the first floor is nice for outdoor seating. The smell of solvent in the room was unbearable. Sleeping was difficult; the window opened into the covered courtyard and offered little relief.
