I spent a fantastic time at Planktons Beach, where the room was spotless and cozy, and I even received a complimentary upgrade to a beach‑view room; the staff were incredibly friendly.

The breakfast was a basic Maldivian spread that didn’t really excite me. I had expected my room to stay longer than promised, but when I asked a different staff member it didn’t work out; the hotel room should have been reserved for that day as I could see the booking status online, so the money wasn’t worth it and I ended up waiting at the airport for 9 hours.

The rooms were great and clean, the staff were very friendly, helpful, and reachable via WhatsApp, and the location was perfect—right across from the beach and a beach bar, with everything within walking distance. However, there is no breakfast room, so the buffet is missing and you only get a limited western‑style breakfast; the hotel also doesn’t provide beach towels, which is a big help on other islands; the airport transfer is very expensive, whereas a local taxi costs only a fraction of that, but overall everything else is excellent and these are just minor issues.

The receptionist was very kind, and we arranged an airport transfer that went smoothly. The hotel itself is very small, has no services, and is outrageously expensive—paying 200 € for a single night feels insane; the price we were charged was higher than what was listed online, supposedly because of tourist taxes, and this was also mentioned by two other travelers who stayed before us. It’s a common practice, but I definitely do not recommend the hotel, though I wouldn’t say the city of Hulumalé is bad either; it’s ugly and dirty.

The staff were very friendly and polite, and they accommodated an early check‑in with no issues; it was a nice stay, though there was no lift.
