The room was spacious. The exhaust fan and air‑conditioner were broken, making the room damp and humid. The AC was unusable, so I couldn’t adjust the temperature, and the broken exhaust fan let bathroom moisture seep into the room, leaving it damp. The bathroom had mold in spots. The shower outlet was clogged, so water sprayed everywhere. No staff were on duty, so I had to call another location from the front desk to check in. With no one at the front desk, the entrance door was unlocked, raising security concerns. The room cost was not cheap, yet there was no Wi‑Fi or amenities. The room smelled, and the bedding was damp. The room wasn’t auto‑locked; keys were left in an unmanned front desk, so a thief could enter unnoticed. The PC was broken, and my reservation details were not recorded.

The place is spacious, spotless and quiet, though I wish they had confirmed whether I’d booked a room‑only stay or a meal plan when I arrived.

The bed was very comfortable and the hotel is a lovely spot on the forest edge. The room is fine, no complaints. The staff were non‑existent. I’d never seen that in a hotel before. My messages went unanswered, and no one was waiting at reception to check me in. Only a Japanese phone number was listed, which was unreachable. A woman finally appeared an hour later, didn’t apologize for anything, handed me the key, and then vanished again. It’s a beautiful place, but a ghost hotel with no manager. It’s very strange, and the hotel is quite far from the center of Karuizawa.

The location was good and the place felt very authentic, but the staff weren’t available when we arrived or during checkout.

The employees were incredibly helpful, the cleaning was thorough, the premises looked spotless, and there was a washer‑dryer combo available. The only downside was that the Wi‑Fi seemed to cut out during the night.
