The bed was really comfortable, staff were kind and helpful even when I checked in late, and they served us breakfast in the room early in the morning as I requested. However, the cleaning needs more attention: there was water with fungus in the kettle, dirt inside the cupboard, no amenities in the room, no water glass, no tea or coffee. People were walking on the street next to the room all night.

The owner and the staff were friendly, and the room itself was very pleasant with air conditioning, studio facilities, and views, but the restaurant was on the rooftop of the building next door, so it was a bit inconvenient to have breakfast.

The Durbar Side Hotel is a real hidden gem in Bhaktapur; for just 23 € per night you get a first‑class room plus a fantastic breakfast on the rooftop terrace with a beautiful view, but because the hotel sits right in the historic old town you have to pay the mandatory tourist entry fee when you enter the district – though you’re also right in the middle of the action! The bathroom is very spartanly equipped.

The hotel is very well located and the breakfast is truly delicious; the room is spacious and nicely decorated, and the staff are very welcoming. I really appreciated my stay with them.
