“Classy stay near by Krems @ best Value for the Quid by far”
The room was basically furnished but newly renovated, with a very classy modern bathroom and a nice lilac (royal) floor carpet. It was exceptionally clean, had a flat‑screen LED TV with a Sat‑Tuner and hundreds of programs. The best part was the adjoining restaurant named Johann's—highly recommend dining there. The pizzas were above average, but the set menu was even better. Every starter dish was a real piece of culinary art, such as a smooth potato sorbet under two fillet pieces of local salmon‑trout that had just been briefly touched by a hot frying pan, leaving traces of a Maillard reaction on the surface while remaining sushi‑rare inside—perfectly balanced. The sorbet was topped with tsatsiki that wasn’t overdone in cucumber or garlic, and a coarse‑grained French mustard that complemented all other ingredients. Fresh sprouts of cress on top—simply gorgeous. The main course was a Gentlemen’s Cut fillet of organic (pasture‑raised) Junior‑Beef, rare, the second best I’ve had after a real fire‑fried fillet in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It beat the Canadian by tenderness and juice, while the Canadian won by the length of roast aromas on the palate—a revelation, full stop. Service was perfect in every aspect, and the recommendation to try the house‑made sourdough bread was spot on; the quality more than justified the reasonable pricing. If any testers stop by, they couldn’t leave enough chef’s caps or stars, honestly! 2‑3 ***
The only downside was that it was really hard to leave without a third night out to the restaurant, but maybe that saved me from a gout flare.
