“Günstige Wohnung für Monteure, als Ferienwohnung eher nicht empfehlenswert”
Across the street is a bakery/grocery shop. Etteln is a pretty village, but it’s quite far out, so you need to like quiet places. From a hygiene standpoint the apartment was okay. The start was pretty clunky. The apartment isn’t in the town centre of Nordborchen as shown on the Booking map, but in the 7 km distant Etteln. I wasn’t given any check‑in information, so I stood in front of a closed door. No one was on site to let me in, and the listed phone number was unreachable. Half an hour after I sent a message via Booking, the host called and gave me the code for the lockbox. The apartment smelled pretty bad; an open drain pipe in the bathroom was the culprit. After I sealed it, the odor slowly faded. Neither the heating nor the ceiling light worked in the bathroom. I’d never seen a round toilet rim on a square toilet bowl before. The whole apartment felt unfinished and unfriendly, with cables hanging from the wall, outlets not fitted correctly or missing covers, clutter in front of the front door, a dirty stairwell. The furnishings were Spartan for the price. The metal‑frame beds with thin mattresses felt more like a barracks than a holiday apartment. I missed the wardrobe described, and there was only a clothes rack. The kitchen was okay, but why you have to pull out the side compartments of the fridge door remains a mystery. It just didn’t look nice or appetizing.
