Very cozy hotel. The room was very clean, comfortable, and a good size. I really liked our stay and would definitely return. Loved the complimentary bottled water. Food was excellent in the restaurant. The restaurant was a bit empty, creating a slight lack of atmosphere.

I booked this short break at a 4‑star hotel and spa as a surprise for my partner who had suffered a sad loss. The experience was awful and upsetting for her and extremely embarrassing for me. Unprotected hot surfaces in the sauna. Handrails into the jacuzzi were insecure and unsafe. The surfaces around the pool area were unacceptably slippery. Jumping insects in the bed (two videos available, your form will not allow video uploads). Stains on the mattress cover, multiple stains on the mattress (see photos). Hair on the shower floor (see photo). The shower was scruffy (see photo). The inspection cover next to the jacuzzi was covered in rust. Brown marks around the top of the steps in the swimming pool. Brown marks on the bottom of the furniture between the pool and the jacuzzi. The water tap handle in the spa shower was covered in rust. No drinking glasses were available at the water station. A staff member handed us two heavily stained hard‑plastic glasses with his dirty fingers inside them! They offered another room, but on entry to this room it smelled of sewerage and mould.

We stayed at the Diplomat for a charity event and enjoyed a spacious room with pleasant views; the beds were large and comfortable, and the room was clean. The bathroom was roomy, featuring a bath and separate his‑and‑hers sinks. We dined at the restaurant and liked the meal. The Diplomat also offers a nice spa with a sauna and steam room, making our stay at this large, impressive hotel enjoyable. A few outside areas look a bit run down and could use sprucing up; the pool surround was slippery, possibly due to the cleaning products used, and it would have been nice to have a triple‑bed option in the family room. Only small gripes, overall it was a great stay.

The staff were friendly, the restaurant was nice, breakfast was good, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable.
