For a cheap stay near Mount Hutt, everything we required was present, and the huge DVD collection with a player in each room was a pleasant surprise. The onsite bar was great for relaxing by the fire, though the beds felt too soft for my taste – a matter of personal preference.

The pre‑built fire and the spot‑on location in the heart of Methven, shielded from road noise by trees and foliage, were perfect. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and check‑in/out was a breeze. I’d definitely return for another trip to Mt Hutt!

The location is amazing, close to Methven and handy for everything. The chalet was great, with plenty of space, good cooking facilities, and a wood fire that added a lot of enjoyment. Nothing to complain about – great value for the price.

Breakfast was extensive, offering various breads, toast, muesli, fruit, a proper coffee machine, dairy and non‑dairy milks, and gluten‑free bread options. The bed was a bit soft and rolled together.

We enjoyed a lovely stay at Cedar Chalets and Bakers Lodge. Bill, the owner, greeted us warmly, showed us around, and explained everything upon arrival. The rooms were cozy and warm, the beds incredibly comfortable, and the location convenient. Breakfast was simple yet tasty, a nice start to the day. All in all, a comfortable and welcoming place. Thanks, Bill, for having us!
