The place was clean and had all the facilities I needed, but there was no front desk for check‑in and I had to climb stairs with a bad knee.

The property feels very quirky and is poorly marked; after finally locating the entrance I saw a city notice about a building‑code violation. The grounds are haphazard—fenced on a steep hillside, outdoor stairways with no ramps for luggage, all digital. The views and room comfort are amazing, yet the eccentric, hard‑to‑access layout (poor signage, remote location, poorly marked parking) makes it feel more like an Airbnb than a hotel. There’s no lobby or amenities besides the large Yamashiro restaurant, known for its Asian style and hilltop views.

The only thing that worked was the self‑check‑in. Everything else was terrible: the hotel was filthy, smelled strongly of bleach, and the door wouldn’t open to let the smell out because bugs would get in. The floors were dirty, the sink and shower were old and worn, flies swarmed inside, and the noise from outside was relentless all night. Worst hotel ever.

Our room was huge and immaculate, complete with a balcony overlooking Hollywood; the location was perfect, just a few blocks from the Walk of Fame, restaurants, and shops. The property shares space with the fantastic Yamashiro restaurant. The neighborhood is quiet and very pleasant, and the staff were incredibly friendly, helping us adjust our travel plans so we could stay an extra night. The bed, pillows, and couch were heavenly comfortable—definitely the highlight.
