Located in the Gokayama hot-spring area, Gokasanso offers Japanese and Western-style accommodations with flat-screen TVs, private toilets, and electric kettles with green tea. Guests can relax in shared indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths and wear Japanese Yukata robes. Traditional meals are served in the dining room, and local performances take place in the lobby on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Walking up from the bus stop, the hotel’s location felt like living in a forest; the onsen was very comfortable, breakfast and dinner were delicious, and the staff were attentive and polite. After dinner on Sunday, the lobby hosted a simple performance of the筑子舞 with explanations, which was fun and helped me learn about traditional folk dance. Thanks!!!

The room was roomy with a futon, a sink, and a toilet, and the hotel had an onsen, but it was very expensive, there was no show even though it was Saturday, the Japanese rooms didn't have showers, the dinner was fine but the breakfast didn't suit Western tastes, and we only ate rice.

The accommodation was pleasant with onsens, yet the building felt old and seemed aimed at older guests.

The Japanese‑style dinner and breakfast were great, the location was very calm with a magnificent mountain view, the onsen was superb with a part in a Japanese garden, there was a local dance demonstration, and the staff were very nice and helpful.
