I stayed a block from the Church of La Merced, which was convenient. During my four nights from 6 to 10 October, I ended up with numerous bites on my arms and legs, causing significant itching and discomfort, even though I had insect repellent. I checked the bed but found no insects, so I can’t pinpoint the source. I think it’s important to share this so the place can examine the bedding and mattress for bedbugs. This was the last spot I stayed in Antigua and the country, and it was disheartening to get new bites every day, making my stay a complete disappointment. I consulted my doctors, who said I had an allergic reaction to an insect bite, but they didn’t identify the insect.
