The staff were excellent. A birthday party was happening at the time, so I couldn’t hear anything in my room and had no choice but to go downstairs for a beer or three. Thankfully, the staff were excellent and kept me hydrated.

“A lovely, comfortable, friendly place to stay.”

The room was excellent, featuring a comfy bed and a lovely bathroom that was spotless and clearly well‑thought‑out. The amenities included fluffy towels, shower gel, soap, tea, coffee, a fan, a small fridge, and a kitchen area with more tea and coffee, a microwave, toaster, plates, and cutlery. The pub itself doesn’t serve food, but a nearby takeaway called My Smart Kitchen just a few yards away is highly recommended; you call, order, and then walk over to pick up your meal. The pub is a traditional working‑men’s place, loud but welcoming, with a friendly landlady, helpful staff, and locals. We even had a DJ that night, which was a blast, and when the music stopped at 11 pm the place went quiet, letting us sleep well. No dislikes.

The location was spot‑on for getting where I needed to go, on a quiet street with only a bit of road noise when the window was open. The pub didn’t serve food, which would have helped a solo woman unfamiliar with the area, but there was a kitchenette with everything I needed. I had to use the bed as a desk for work because there was no desk at the right height.
