The Occidental Lodge offers a sparkling pool and sun terrace just five minutes’ walk from boutique shops and cafés. Each room features marble countertops, a separate vanity sink, dressing area, flat‑screen TV, and tea‑and‑coffee facilities. Located 12 km from Bodega Bay and 21 km from Santa Rosa, it provides easy access to over 200 Sonoma County wineries within a half‑hour drive.

The staff were very accommodating and friendly, the beds were firm and comfortable, and the rooms were spotless; there was plenty of parking, and the spot was within walking distance of many restaurants and only a ten‑minute drive to Monte Rio by the Russian River. The only downside was that the rooms seemed a bit pricey for just one night.

The room needed much better TV service and better amenities; being an old building, you shouldn’t expect a great experience.

The location was amazing and the fresh air at night was spectacular, but there was a strong bleach smell in the bathroom and throughout the room that gave me a headache; the bathroom wall had hair stuck to it, there was mold on the ceiling above the bath, and the parking spaces were a bit tight for large SUVs.
