The 4-star Grand Hotel Downtown, Amsterdam, is a 10-minute walk from Leidseplein and Museumplein. This modern hotel features air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and stocked minibars (additional charge). Some rooms have terraces with city views. A buffet breakfast is served from 07:00 to 10:30 in the stylish breakfast room. The hotel is near several restaurants and tram stops (Bilderdijk and Overtoom) for easy access to Central Station and Dam Square.

I spotted a great rooftop deck with a very comfortable bed and a solid breakfast, but the outside door to our deck wouldn’t open until a staff member fixed it—easy fix, though. The location wasn’t as central as we’d imagined, yet it was still walkable to the main city centre.

The place is in a nice neighbourhood with friendly staff and straightforward communication, but the rooms are a bit small and the bread selection is somewhat limited.

Only the location was good. Everything else was just fine except the location. The building was old, dirty, and there was mold in the shower. The breakfast was a sham. I’m thinking of filing a complaint.
