The place sits right next to Volcanoes National Park, is super quiet, roomy, and spotless. A private gate gives a sense of safety, and the trees are full of birds and flowers—so gorgeous it blew my mind.

The rental lives in its own building, which is great for privacy, and it’s roomy and comfy. The nighttime nature sounds are unreal; if you’ve never heard frogs at night, this is the spot. The location is remote and hard to find in the dark, even though the entrance has reflectors. A private trail around the property would add to the experience.

It’s close to Volcano National Park, the bed is comfy, and the arrival instructions were clear. There were no blackout curtains, the fridge and water filter were noisy and had to be unplugged, and no guidance on how to lock the door when leaving.

The calm was perfect. I didn’t expect much but I was blown away and wish every stay could be as lovely.

The separate building has all the amenities, a cozy bed, a quiet balcony, and the room and bath were clean. Filtered water is a plus, and the park entrance is only 15 min away. A nearby convenience store also sells hot breakfast and lunch. The access road from the main road is unpaved and uneven; even my Mazda CX‑50 worried me about the car bottom hitting the ground, so I had to drive carefully. I’m glad I didn’t rent a sedan, and some keypad keys for the gate opener didn’t work when we tried to leave with our car.
