I’ve stayed at Kaomai Lanna four times now, mainly because a close relative lives nearby. The staff were as friendly and helpful as always, and the place feels special. The focus on history, detail, and the natural surroundings is something I’ve never seen in my 35 years of living in and visiting Thailand. Turning tobacco barns into rooms was clever, and the cafe and restaurant’s use of steel, high ceilings, and historical artefacts is really cool. The gardens are magnificent, the products use organic ingredients, and the menu—especially the Isan dishes—is wonderful. Thanks again to Khun Cha and his team, and his children’s books are both cute and funny. The only hiccup was a bit of ruckus on the roof one night, which turned out to be a resident Asian Palm Civet that clearly loves the gardens as much as I do 😁
