Kookaburra Holiday Park, in Cardwell, spans 3 acres of tropical gardens, 250 metres from the beach. The park offers a swimming pool, free on-site parking, and free WiFi. Guests can access a shared kitchen, 3 covered BBQs, and outdoor dining. Accommodation ranges from studios to villas, with flat-screen TVs, refrigerators, and bed linen, near Hinchinbrook Island and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

Location was accross the road from the beach and close to food options. No staff at reception for the whole stay, we arrived at 2pm - just got a text - which was fine. Cabin was described as superior - it was old and tired, with yellow appliances and general dirtiness. The sofa for example was covered with a stained sheet, who knows what was under it. Blinds were missing. The beds were uncomfortable and itchy, we sneezed the whole time, lots of dust. Given the option, we would have left. Terrible value for money at $220!!!

The villa was in a quiet spot and the bed was very comfortable, but parking was behind the villa and I had to walk up a very uneven brick path to reach the front, which was tough with my walking stick and poor balance; the hair dryer was permanently mounted on the bedroom wall with no mirror, I could only pick up channel 7 on the TV, and the vinyl flooring was lifting, creating a tripping hazard.

They offer camping sites and the remote weekend staff communication was A+++, plus there’s a pet‑friendly “out‑tent” option; I only wish they had pet‑friendly rooms since we were traveling with our fur baby.
