“Definitely style over substance”
The price was decent, but the stairs leading up to the bed were a real hazard, resembling a stack of IKEA cubes that were hard to climb. The room was filthy: the area behind the toilet seat was disgusting, the fridge was smelly and dirty, and the cushions on the settee were filthy. They advertised a double bed, yet there was only one thin mattress on the floor. The sheet was ripped, and there was no top sheet—just two thin, tiny throws that didn’t look clean. When I tried to eat, there were only two forks, no knives, just one spoon and no bowls. The air conditioning unit was placed in a terrible spot, two feet over the bed, and would have been better if it were mounted on a headboard. All the light switches were downstairs, so when I was in bed watching TV I had to go down the cubes, navigate in the dark, and climb back up. The décor had some thought—nice lamp, mirror, coffee table, and an artistic rope draped from the fan to the lamp—but more effort should have gone into the basic amenities mentioned above. Outside the unit, there was a dumping ground of old chairs, kitchen equipment, and furniture.
